I'm just frying - and trying! - to lively up the place but really...criticising those poor Parents. The cheek of it! Actually its a real eye opener to me that as you said so perceptively over there..the ONLY way you can protect your child is to be permanently chained to him/her. It seems that there is so much scare mongering that people are afraid to even leave their child asleep in a hotel bedroom. And this why checking on them every half hour/or hour/why we're arguing over the time is beyond me. But I'm sure Sandy will be back in full flow - I wish it really WERE that simple to shut him up, Mel. Nonsense. Nobody is saying that parents should chain their kids to them. All we are saying is that parents should not leave their kids alone at such a young age. OK so nobody expects a kidnapping but even so it is still IRRESPONSIBLE. What if the children woke up and were frightened? What if they got sick? Leaving them on their own for up to an hour is just wrong. It is not as if they had any choice either. They could have easily afforded a baby-sitter. They could have taken them with them, as most other parents would. It is not exactly unknown for young children to fall asleep in push chairs and prams. If these parents were a bunch of lower class dross you would not have said the same. And it seems pretty odd to me that a kidnapper would choose to break into a shuttered room on the off-chance that a child was waiting to be abducted inside. So the abductor must have been around for quite a while or the windows were open.
