Who is this German?

Born in n Günzburg, Bavaria, eldest of three sons of a well-to-do industrialist, and his wife Walburga..During his service on the Eastern Front during 1941-1942, he received the Iron Cross, both first class and second class, the Wound Badge in black, and the Eastern Front Medal. He e was wounded at the Russian front and was pronounced medically unfit for combat, and promoted to the rank of SS-Hauptsturmführer.

He has been fictionalised in two famous films. The Marathon Man and The Boys From Brazil.

Assumed that his remains were buried in Embu, Brazil in a grave marked "Wolfgang Gerhard"

Believed to have died on February 7, 1979 on the beach at Bertioga in Embu, Brazil while suffering a stroke while swimming in the ocean.

February 1985 a public trial, in absentia, was held at Yad Vashem
In June 1985, the body in the grave was exhumed for forensic identification.

Now if this were the Crumblies I'd give his first and last names as final clues in a dastardly attempt to thwart thee all-seeing eye of Madrigal..however..we don't make it easy here (unless thy name is Sandy).
