Well, have you had your little prick yet? Seems to be going pretty well so far.

*Sharp scratch.* (I think they have a lesson put aside for that.)
I'm not expecting one for a few weeks yet.

Not yet, but I know a number of people who have. I suspect mine will be at my doctors surgery, which is the best surgery anyone could ever want. Sooner the better really as I am fed up with living like a prisoner.

Just received a phone call from the NHS.
Nothing to do with vaccination, however. A delayed routine appointment for a dermatology examination next Monday. I was caught a bit unawares and accepted it, but on reflection I think I'll ring them back and put it off until I've had my vaccine. Hospitals are not the healthiest places to visit unless its really necessary, without some immunity It's six months late anyway and hardly urgent. I expect there are more urgent cases they can amuse themselves with than me.

All I am doing is lying as low as my mental capacity will allow - it is probably worse that being in solitary confinement. And just hoping I stay fit and well from other things as well as C19. Life I think has changed for ever. One of my big regrets is not being able to go down the road for a pint. It is not the beer, but the company I miss.

Well, the NHS lady rang again today to ask me if I was coming by car, so I asked her to put the appointment off until I'd got my vaccine, after apologising for accepting it without thinking yesterday.
I explained my reason and she was very understanding, explaining that I was not the first to have reconsidered it for that reason.

I am a mere 71 so it will be ages yet. I do have an appointment for a visual fields test at the end of January and, having read what you say, am tempted to cancel that. However I will attend my appointment with the glaucoma consultant in early March and he will need the fields test so I suppose I should go.

Its probably more urgent for you. You don't want to mess about with Glaucoma. I'd go to both, Skylark.
My appointment was a formality. A chance to point out any spots that never seem to get better Thankfully I have nothing to report. The dermatologist who treated me said that his field was the most profitable form of medicine as his patients never died and never got better! He was, I think, joking but there is probably some truth in it.

If his patients never die, how can I get a skin disorder that guarantees me eternal life?

I wouldn't bother.
You'd end up wanting to die!

Well, my letter arrived this morning and I dutifully went on line to book an appointment. Ticked all the boxes to be told to try again tomorrow!
I suppose if I had said I needed a wheelchair, disabled parking and toilets, needed translation into braille or Tagalog I would have had an instant appointment.
But, it must be a monumental task so I wont grumble. If I don't get a result tomorrow I will dial the freephone number they have supplied.

Good luck. Settle down with a good book and a cup of something soothing before you dial.
Are you within easy reach of a mass vaccination hub? I had an idea that letters are only being sent out to the over-70s if they are. We are not.

I'm going for one on Thursday (62, but with various conditions). It's 10 minutes' walk away but I'm getting a lift, just in case.

I had an idea that letters are only being sent out to the over-70s if they are. We are not. Far from it Larkers. I was on the telephone - this morning as things got busy yesterday, for 4 minutes, and was offered one of three sites all within around 10 miles. I declined the ones in Central Bristol and have my first one booked for this Thursday. And the second one on 16th April, at Ashton Gate Stadium. A bit further away but a doddle of a journey and dead easy to park.
