Reception dire last night, as most nights....so we watched Jamon Jamon - pretty good with pretty Penelope Cruz - but a slow and not entirely satisfactory ending. The previous night we watched Twenty Nine Palms. A film so bad i can would give it minus 10 stars out of 5. Billed as a cross between Deliverence and Psycho, i had hopes of being scared a little and entertained. We were subjected to set piece 'sex' acts every 15 minutes that would make an alien wonder why humans indulge in this activity (for the duration it made us wonder why too), and atrocious acting from the leading man. The Deliverence/Psycho moment came in the last 5 minutes - like it had been tacked on as an afterthought. Avoid this film!

Well I watched the Documentary on "Killer" Kane of course. I must say David Johanson was the star of the show. Very graceful in the way he gently eased in the somewhat bewildered and bemused Kane and humoured him gently I thought.
Very impressed with the gang as a whole, with some perceptive and very heartfelt comments from Morrissey. More of a quiet thoughtful piece than the rowdy drugfest we'd have had under Johnny Thuinders or Jerry Nolan. Kane was always the very quiet bass player who never moved etc..
..sometimes I think Jack Bruce is/was the only Bass man to take centre stage. Which is irritating for a lead guitarist and a mad drummer, hence the tensions and fights!

Two of my all time favourite films..I think anyone who doesn't admit Psycho is the best horror film of all time is completely insane but..well I've never been short on opinion. Mind you I saw it first when I was about 11 yrs old and it remains the only film to have given me nightmares.

Last night's entertainment was very amusing, clever and surreal. Dark Habits (Almodovar) A nightclub singer seeks refuge with gay nuns on dope in a Madrid convent.... Just about sums it up! 5/5

Gargs the reception for TV in these parts is atrocious - hence me watching loads of dvds instead.
I know my daughter at uni is planning to watch I Robot....I alas cannot.

How about "I Robot" followed by "Johnny Mnemonic" on Channel 4. Unfortunately i have to be up at 5:30 so I won't be watching. You should have told me beforehand I'm so confused with all these channels I can't even be bothered to ring off what I want to watch (possibly because I'm not a huge film fan - I get restless easy). Actually I suppose everyone but me goes through the ritual of ringing programmes off but since digital it got too messy so I gave up. I watched Cold Mountain instead..it looked good and I'm sure Zellweger and Kidman are fine actresses but to me its just two famous actresses doing their thing so I never actually believe the story. However I think this is a peculiarity on my odd mind perhaps. No-one else seems to have this problem. I prefer films with unknown actors (which means they aren't very good actors ). I'm a late sleeper..I watch stuff to 3 am. occasionally. Last night I saw 5 minutes of what I assumed was another boring reality show called 'Playing it Straight'. It entails one very pretty young woman surrounded by several hunky blokes who go through various manly rituals..like getting drunk, chatting up lots of women, putting up shelves and doing DIY (which would have me down as gay in no time!) and ripping up gardens and doing lots of spadework. At the end of it she has to pick at least one of the 10 people left..I missed several episodes..and pick someone she things is gay and not straight. And if she sorts them out she gets £50,000..a considerable sum. Well...5 minutes in and I was a bit curious..the guy useless at gardening and DIY was pretty obviously straight. In fact gay blokes are usually more tidy re. Interior design than anyone..so I was slowly intrigued by this and after 30 minutes was gripped. Against all odds its actually very interesting to watch people just getting drunk in a bar and guessing which are straight and which aren't. I reckon - despite my usual dislike of reality programmes - that this one is a surefire winner. The only problem is that the editing is bound to be skewed so that it doesn't give a true picture whereas the woman is able to watch them all day.

Silver Surfers 9:00pm - 10:00pm Channel 4 The Bafta-winning Only Human series examines how the internet has revolutionised the lifestyles of thousands of love-seeking British pensioners, providing them with new opportunities to find romance, build relationships and escape loneliness. With dating websites featuring an increasing number of elderly members, the film explores how the stereotypes of old age as being passive and unadventurous are being challenged.
Gus must be on there somewhere, surely.

Or, more up Madrgal's street
Once Upon a Time in New York 9:00pm - 10:00pm BBC4 The Birth of Hip Hop, Disco and Punk
Many of the most thrilling periods in rock history have happened when one city becomes the centre of everything. Having trailed behind London and San Francisco in the 1960s, in the 70s New York again became the coolest town on Earth. Disco, punk and, later, hip-hop were among the sounds that took hold here before the rest of the planet was ready for them: this fizzing documentary recalls how the city's cosmopolitan, feisty, arty citizens gave us the Velvet Underground, the New York Dolls, Patti Smith, Blondie, Chic, Television, Grandmaster Flash, the Ramones and a host of others. John Cale, Chuck D, Chris Stein, Nile Rodgers, and Richard Hell are among the deities interviewed, in a film that kicks off BBC4's New York season.

Typical.
Its 11 pm and I'm thinking oh great whens that on? - err..an hour ago actually. This stuff had better be repeated.
I was watching Cold Mountain last night and thinking what a lame actress Nicole Kidman is..totally outacted by Renee Zellweger who was brilliant in a cameo role really. Must admit Jude Law is a very good actor despite having to read about his tedious affairs in the papers - or not reading them rather.
I dont even know who Sienna Miller is or the other girl who he's going out/married/engaged to, but he can definitely act!

No-one could afford the budget to film that guy! ;D Even David Attenborough spends most of the time in the studio doing the voice overs than actually travelling, which is a bit disappointing actually.
