The amount of illogical tripe this bloke babbles is beyond all comprehension.

Impersonation is what you mean. The crime has been around since the year dot, and rebranding it with this idiotic new name is simply an excuse for the dimmer newspapers to put the wind up their readers and flog them overpriced and useless shredding machines.
Incidentally, shredded documents in your bin are a sure indication that it is worth the effort doing the jigsaw to recover the info. Unless you spend thousands on a shredder, it's unlikely that the pieces will be small enough to make reassembly infeasible.
A better plan would be to pour glue over the hand=torn papers before binning them. A dilute PVA adhesive like Unibond would do the job pretty well I reckon. >>
