A keen weather watcher, I check the bbc to see what's in store most days. The Innuit people have a ton of words for snow...and it seems that the bbc weather persons have a few words for rain, but only one icon to describe them: Scattered showers, showers, light rain On the one hand I am pleased that they aren't wasting our money, but on the other...how can I plan my week ?

I have the same problem. Forecast for whole week is rain, rain, rain. and i dont have any good film on dvd. We have fests for two days next week. i want to take three days of vacancy, so i will have 9 free rainy days next week (with another weekend).

We have people called Weather Forecasters ..they speak with forked tongue. They informed us it would be the hottest August this century...science my arse!

I wonder how many words the Labour government have for cr ap?

the bbc weather persons have a few words for rain, but only one icon to describe them: Scattered showers, showers, light rain On the one hand I am pleased that they aren't wasting our money, They use the same symbol because essentially it’s the same, irrespective of what they say. They only use different terms (patchy rain, scattered showers, heavier outbreaks, intermittent rain, drizzley showers) to make you feel your life is full of variety and to make you believe everyday will be differently exciting. You can always hope it will be exciting one day, that you'll look out the window and see it's raining men, hallejulah! (Though I do wish the TV weathermen wouldn't spend a disproportionate amount of time telling us what we more or less already know, for I don't find them the personalities some people do. That's where the money's wasted)

I too instantly thought of Magritte when I read pinkmelon's post, and if you google a bit, you'll find at least 6 other paintings of raining men. But I hesitated to post any men pictures, when I noticed Mrs Winthorpe's friends, evidently having also heard the forecast, had stationed themselves outdoors ready to scoop up as many men as they could (perhaps forgetting how wet and limp the men will be).
