Actually..its always a huge relief to get away from somwhere I'm not wanted -altho if they voted they'd vote for me back of course. Talking about politics is the most irritating way of wasting time there is. Especially when every pompous Tom, dong and Harry is talking cpmplete twaddle. And they dont like it when i point out what twaddle it is. They want to carry on talking nonsense and i'm perfectly happy to leave them to it. No-one is listening to them.  |

Thats one of Gus's Desert Island Discs..he was always jumping ship and watching them come in and then go out again I only ever jumped ship once and that was in Auckland NZ ( I was in love) I ended up in the big house in Wellington. Another time i missed my ship in Imuiden Holland and through no fault of a own (well almost) I ended up again in Der Hausvanbewahren jail to you and me. Another time i missed a ship was in Curacoa Nederland Antillen after having drink taken, I slipped on an iron companienway and knocked myself out. I was hospitalised for three weeks in Wilhelmstad and the last week a Norwegian also a tanker man and I would slip out to Happy Valley which was the name of the den of iniquity to cavort as i think the word is.I rejoined the Shell tanker in Perth Amboy NJ. gus |
