I am going down to the Harlots Arms on Saturday for a meal. The difference is I normally book for 8ish, now it will be 7ish as the 10pm curfew will be in place. I think the government needs to take another look at that. Hundreds of people in city centres all piling out of pubs and bars at the same time as opposed to drifting off when they are ready does not seem to be very sensible to me.
Just thankful I live in a small town, with only a couple of our pubs which are renowned for problems.

ExCorpTM is developing a smartphone app which works out where it is (GPS), looks up what regulations apply there at that time (they change quite rapidly) and then tells you whether you are breaking the law or not, whether to leave a group, to drink up and leave, whether you are standing too close etc.
It is felt that this will be gratefully received by confused PMs and the like. When asked awkward questions the questioner can be contemptuously directed to the app without the need for entering waffle mode.
A fat government contract must be imminent I feel!

It is proving to be a challenge.
What is required is an app that monitors the utterances of our beloved leader, Boris, at all times. (Theoretically achievable) and then goes on to extract from it the arbitrary changes in regulation announced. There is, as yet, no workable algorithm capable of extracting anything meaningful from anything our leader says. Morover, it has to do the same for other luminaries in teh cabinet who also utter these edicts, frequently in complete conflict with each other.
The project is foundering at the moment, but I will ensure you will be included at an early date should it start moving again. Your Serial Number will be 0000000000002. I have reserved 0000000000001 for HM the Q. (special polite instructions version)
"PUT YOUR MASK ON NOW!, your majesty" rather than "PUT YOUR MASK ON NOW, YOU BLOODY TWIT!"

An average of 6,000 a day confirmed new covid-19 cases now, and it seems to be doubling every two weeks. As there are 12 weeks to Christmas, this means six doublings, taking the daily rate on Christmas day to 384,000 a day!
Happy Christmas everyone!
Oh, and Santa will be forbidden from visiting every house on pain of a £1,000 fine per house.

I can hardly believe it. People are admiring POTUS for starting to wear a mask.
The bloke is required to! He's been diagnosed with covid-19,ffs!
He probably should be prosecuted for misleading so many people into taking irresponsible risks with their and others' health.
But I'm prepared to see how things go before I lay into him. After all, we're all allowed a mistake or two. Do I mean that?

He has no problem with taking the piss out of people who are ill. I saw footage of his TV 'debate' and was appalled at his family entourage walking in. Apart from a couple of them looking like Barbie dolls none was wearing a mask, but they were required to. Whether masks work I do not know, but if and when I am required to wear one I do. A pain in the arse as they make your specs mist up, but rooles is rools

I fear for his survival.
There is no cure or vaccine for a disease that doesn't actually exist, being instead a Chinese Hoax or 'Fake Nooos'
Re masks and fogging specs, I find it is better to put the mask on and the glasses over it.

I think we should follow France and require everyone to wear a mask in a bar or restaurant unless they are actually taking a drink or a bite. Maybe such a measure would negate the need for early closing and it would make me feel more inclined to visit my local Harlot's Arms. At the hospital today five of us were in a small waiting area and two were not wearing masks. They weren't even patients but tagged along with them. They may have been either carers or caring for the patient, though this wasn't obvious, but I could see no reason why they were exempted. The chemist has got it right. Everyone without a mask has to stay outside and be served outside, and that applies equally to the exempt as the 'blast, forgot it' or 'nothing-will-get-me-to-wear-one' brigade.
