This made me smile: www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-54632523Years ago I worked in a lab on the top floor of a building. The flat roof was of concrete and has a sort of glazed clerestory running along the centre for extra light I suppose. It got sweltering in the summer, and one day we had a brainwave and got the labourers to go and paint the glass white with cheap emulsion paint. There was plenty left over and they seemed to enjoy being on thr roof out of sight of the boss so they offered to do the whole area of out bit of the roof whilst they were at it. The difference was dramatic. The drawing office next to us had not been painted and the folk there continued to swelter until the painting was extended over their area too. The boss' office in the corner they left unpainted. They had little liking for him, and although I didn't check, it would not have surprised me if they'd painted it matt black. The paint didn't last long, but then neither did the hot weather. But its nice to see these breakthroughs being broken through once again!
