Went to have a look at it this morning. It looks a fine ship, but I am still slightly annoyed at the pretence of allowing the pubil to choose the name followed by the rather arrogant rejection of it for something more dignified.
We paid for it, not the unknown twitish dignifier and if we want a silly name why should we not have it?
I note that Swedes were recently asked to name a train, and in sympathy with the UK public chose "Trainy McTrainface" for it. To their credit, the operating company has accepted this and the "Trainy McTrainface" it remains.
And God bless all who ride on it!

There is a story about a school in the UK that had a poll amongst the pupils to decide on a name, and they chose Springfield Elementary. The renaming was done before anyone realised. (This might be apocryphal, but I really hope it isn't.)

I found this, but its website doesn't say how it got its name springfield.uk.net/(no, I don't have anything better to do)
