I was amused to find scientists who have recently discovered that seagulls are smart creatures. Smarter than many a scientist perhaps.
Scientists noted that seagull turned up at schools just before playtimes and waited to pick up any food left by the kids after playing. They can tell the time. Not only that, they don't bother turning up on the weekend.
About 100 yards away from my home is a car park which looks out over the river. It is much favoured by local workers who drive there to eat their lunches. Their view of the river is normally obscured by a row of seagulls waiting on the handrail for any left over chips/bits of burger etc. They don't bother at the weekend either.
The tidier diners use a litter bin to dispose of the wrapping, so when the workers have departed, they scour the ground for anything they can find and then turn their attention to the litter bin, hauling out the paper, polythgene bags and drinks containers for anything worth eating and making a got awful mess.

Maybe they do come at the weekend and see there's no one there and just fly over. Aaah.
