As far as I can make out his much babbled about 'transformation' of popular music was merely to transform it from horrible to vile.
'Wall of Sound', my arse! Just a terrible noise.
Of more interest was a report - I may have misheard it - that he had suffered Covid-19 for three months before dying from it. That sounds a really unpleasant experience.

He made it sound good on a transistor radio, which was how it was listened to back then. He seems to have been an unpleasant person otherwise.

I found his productions exciting; you could almost say they stirred up something primeval. Obviously it didn't work for Exco, but it didn't take me long to wonder what youngsters saw in punk, or even why teenagers got worked up by some of the boy/girl bands around in the 70s.
