I finished teh 2,000 piece jigsaw my daughter gave me for Christmas. By the end of it I was distinctly subrational. Spotting a crisp bag on the pavement, my first thought was "Same colour as that macaw in teh top right hand corner". Talking to a friend on Skype, he managed to get me enthusiastic about Microsoft's latest flight simulator 2020. This is stunningly realistic but requires a Cray or two to run it. (I exaggerate a bit but not much). My current computer won't run it of course so I decided to build a more powerful one.
So I spent a week looking for components powerful enough to do what I wanted at a price under the national debt. It seems everyone but me wants an expensive case with glass windows to you can see inside. Why shoud anyone want to do this you might ask. The answer is so that you can enjoy the coloured leds that festoon everything including teh whirling fan blades! I HATE this sort of thing and managed to resists cases with toughened glass windows at £600 for a perfectly adequate £40, but finding it was a big struggle! I think they are added everywhere in order to persuade Joe public that the ludicrous prices are justifiable. Memory cards look like juke boxes. Horrible!
At any rate I have now ordered everything I need at a cost which is probably only a trifle less than a real life 737 or an A380 (They are going cheap at the moment thanks to covid!)
I can't help feeling that I am acting irrationally. It is entirely unjustified, ludicrously expensive, and I would never normally indulge myself. I can only assume its creeping lunacy. It is affecting Mrs E. She has read all Amm Cleeves Vera Stanhope Books and moved onto Obama's biography (vol 1) which is about 1,000 pages long as the madness takes hold.
I don't know where it will end!
