I think most on here will have either had, or had a slot booked for their vaccine. But sadly there will be some throughout the country that will refuse on various grounds from various conspiracy theories.
Yesterday I made a decision, that I will not employ anyone who can not prove they have been vaccinated. Anyone new that is, all the current staff have been vaccinated but then I tend to employ some fairly bright people, present company excepted.
Someone said 'you cant do that'. Well, yes I can and will and if some numpty wants to claim discrimination I will be pleased to see them in court.

How can you tell if your decision is yours or the result of a nanobot injected with your first shot Jonjel?
More seriously, do you have the legal right to ask if someone has been vaccinated or not? Medical records are generally considered confidential.

How can you tell if your decision is yours or the result of a nanobot injected with your first shot Jonjel? More seriously, do you have the legal right to ask if someone has been vaccinated or not? Medical records are generally considered confidential. I am sure it is not legal to discriminate, but at an interview a lot of questions are asked, and one could be 'have you had the vaccine?' followed by 'would you?' And that would be in with a lot of other questions. As far as I know it is not discriminatory to ask that question. It would be if I asked someone sexual orientation. And after much consideration a more suitable candidate is chosen. And if the rejected candidate objects, my answer is - prove it! I did once have some official alleging I had rejected someone because he was black . I told him to eff off and put the phone down, but how I wish that had gone to court, because the one I selected and who stayed with me for a number of years, was black! I have steam coming out of my ears about the idiots who are either refusing, telling us it is all a hoax, telling us we are being injected with poison, or a microchip - you name it, they will cite is as a reason not to be vaccinated. Well, bollocks to them, and they don't have the intelligence to work for me anyway. A good friend is currently in Gloucester Royal on oxygen and a ventilator fighting for breath, and his life.

I can't see why you are upset. Those stupid enough to refuse the vaccine will run the risk of catching it themselves but not to those who have had the vaccine. They are a self-eliminating problem.
Provided the number of refusers is not so large as to raise the 'R' number above one, they will be unable to cause an epidemic. Thankfully they are few in number and not taken very seriously in the UK. (Like my daughter's hairdresser who informed my daughter that all vaccines contained '5G powder' and we all know what THAT does!) I've always believed that a good system is one that tolerates errors and rule breakers. An ideal system actually needs them, but I can only think of one that does and that's evolution.
Provided your prospective employee is not meeting the public as part of his job, I wouldn't worry about it.

You are right of course Exco, and I very much doubt the situation will arise in any event. Maybe old age and intolerance go hand in hand! Just been for about a 3 mile walk on a beautiful morning so the world seems a better place.

I had it; and I got back up our stairs afterwards as well.

Even though they discount the unproven scare stories on social media, apparently some younger people are nervous about the vaccine because it is new and no-one knows whether unforeseen things will develop in future years. It is not of course a drug, where these things can happen, but I have some sympathy with the fear of the unknown. Older people can afford to be more robust.
