Not being too brilliant at avoiding them I normally curse these damn things blocking the pavement, but I was enormously cheered by one I narrowly avoided colliding with. Outside a hairdressing salon in the local high street it read

"Boris has nits!"

All in the worst possible taste here. What did you expect?

The news of his nits was greeted by widespread approval.

The street placards that really piss me off are those who deliberately stand behind news reporters outside parliament shouting the reporters down.

I wonder if treatment for the nits explains the £500 unpaid debt outstanding court order reported by the BBC after Private Eye pointed it out to them against one Boris Johnson of 10 Downing Street, London?

And while on the subject of street placards we now have brainless morons footballers waving the Palestinian flag in front of the crowds. I am incensed by this, and even more by a parade of cars draped in the same rags deliberately driving though predominantly Jewish areas of London and other cities shouting anti-Semitic chants. I doubt many of these prats could even point to Gaza on a map, let alone claim to have been there. I have been there and the situation is certainly not as clear cut as most seem to make out.

Why do the Americans support Israel? Is it simply fellow feeling with another country that has stolen their land from previous owners or what?

It could be to do with Israel being a democracy and Palestine being anything but a democracy and only being recognised as a sovereign state by two other states (last time I checked) N Korea and Somalia.

Well the US don't seem to be siding with Russia despite them having blatantly stolen a lot of Crimea, so I think your theory of them siding with countries which stole others lands is a little flawed.

Israel is bordered by a population who have stated that they want to wipe Israel off the map. There were many such until the 1968 war seemed to make some of them see a little sense. I think you have to bear in mind that Israel can only afford to lose once. Can you seriously believe that Hamas would want to negotiate a cease fire if they were in anything other than a losing situation?

It is a fabulous country - all of it totally destroyed by racial and religious bigotry. The overwhelming number of people there simply want to just get on with their lives and live in peace, but they are being goaded into unimaginable behaviour, and much of that goading is coming from countries such as Iran, Syria and indeed Russia.

Israel is an incredibly complex country and people may not realise there are many millions of Arabs living and working there. Almost every taxi and bus driver for example. Some of those Arabs are actually Christian Arabs. And how many Jews live in Gaza? (I refuse to call it Palestine). Not a single one as if they tried to they would be killed.

Well, The Americans wouldn't count Crimea as an invasion.

The inhabitants WANTED the Russians to take over, remember, and they haven't been killed or stuck ito reservations or treated as second or third class citizens. In fact they are still living happily where they did before the takeover.
