This seems to be an ongoing problem. People quite rightly hate it, and numerous hands are wrung over how disgraceful it is.
As a result of a recent domestic clearout, I recently visited our local council waste recycling centre. On arrival I joined the half-mile queue to get in and inched forward in blazing sun for 45 minutes. Inside it is cramped and one has to park a long way from the skips as different waste goes to different ones. Moreover, it is all on flat ground so the waste has to be lifted to get it into the skip. In some cases steps are provided so you have to lug the heavy waste up these steps. It took me about 20 minutes to dump my stuff, by which time I was drenched in sweat. In some cases 'NO BAGS' was being strictly enforced and people were made to empty their bags in order to dump the stuff inside. Dumping the bags was possible, but only at one point a long way away.
I am in no way advocating fly tipping, but I can understand why people do it.
There seems little point in urging people to use the proper facilities when doing so involves so much hassle. I feel the council must take some of the blame for making proper disposal of waste such a thoroughly unpleasant business.
It doesn't seem a very original point but perhaps these facilities should be designed for the convenience of the public rather than that of the operators.

I think you can blame your council for most of that Exco. My tip is brilliant and one is in and out in moments. There are even blokes there who will help you. The skips are done a level ad there is a low wall between where you park and the skips.

I have not been to ours in a long time but learnt to choose the right time. A wet weekday would more or less guarantee no queue. Some councils have a booking system for the tip. I’m not sure I would welcome that .
