Judge GUS: "...Whitehall had rejected pleas to help him because he was not a British citizen ( perfidious Albion)" I don't know if the bloke was in the frame or not ... I suppose the evidence has to be sifted with afine comb , to know. But the British Gov. turning away from "the problem" is fair, in my reading. This bloke has his own Gov. and Country - and they should've put in the diplomatic effort to support him. If it were Morocco, Algiers or whichever, then he would probably get a postcard with "good luck" written on it, true. But that's his country - UK has no power to do anything for him. Yes I do see your point that the British government have only an obligation to their own citizens but he worked 16 years in Britain surely an unofficial plea would not have gone amiss. Even so it seems to me that the man has had a raw deal from so called democracy. gus

////OMG will i get nothing right//// Don’t be too hard on yourself, Gus. As long as you repent and agree with /this/ statement, all will be alright.... [We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war.] My God you are right why did I not think of that. Convert every one to Christianity. Btw Christianity is the only religion that feels obliged to convert. My posts on the the evils of Bomber Harris and his carpet bombing stretch from here to Dresden. gus

It wasn't Canute who tried to stem the tide. His courtiers tried to flatter him by saying he was so powerful he could halt the tide. All he did was show them he couldn't. A little learning is a dangerous thing nor any drop to drink (nor iron bars a cage?). Which reminds me, I must down to the sea again

This does not happen in many other countries. That was my point which you seem to have not taken in. The fact that all these countries do not have such a system is not our fault.
