It happens to hairdressers, too. On the other hand, women's hairdressers in top establishments in London get around £10 - £15 a client and they get several clients a day.

Why should they get that untaxed when I pay taxes on what I earn? No-one gives me free money.

mainly because they get paid very badly by their employers...who also shaft their customers by making them subsidise their low earning 'juniors' via tips.

it's a disgraceful way to treat customers and and apprentices, imho.

One dodge is that hairdressers do not have employers: they are self-employed and only have the use of the salon.
