Well today is officially Potato Day better known to Dan Quayle as 'Potatoe Day'. Now at first sight it sounds a bit mundane but then can you imagine a world without the humble potato. Life just wouldn't be worth living. No Fish n' Chip shops, no King Edward, no use for Ireland, no potato famine and no knighthood for Sir Walter Raleigh. And no Potato Museums www.peipotatomuseum.com/Birthdays:- Jean-Baptiste Siméon CHARDIN, born 11/02/1699
Marie ANTOINETTE, born 11/02/1755
Luchino VISCONTI, born 11/02/1906
Bunny BERIGAN, born 11/02/1908
Burt LANCASTER, born 11/02/1913
Ann RUTHERFORD, born 11/02/1920Johnny Chardin is probably my favourite artist and I'm the proud owner of many of his greatest works (currently residing in closely guarded safe in a Swiss Bank) Probably the most under-rated Artist in the world and a huge influence on many of todays Modern Artists. He persuaded them to give up futile attempts at drawing and take up laying down a few bricks and embroidering tents instead.

I hope not next to my Velazquez ( National Gallery until January 2007) Apparantly his painting of Pope Innocent X caused the Pope to exclaim "troppo vero---to real" gus

Today in 1957 Laika was sent into space. Laika means 'barker'. She died a week later after the oxygen supply ran out. Poor little mongrel.
