Watching the Who at Glasonbury and a few questions present themselves:
Why was Daltrey wearing a Fat Suit? Those bulges can't possibly be natural.
And why did he leave his voice at home and pretend to be a tenor Tom Waits instead?
And WTF did he think he was wearing?
And as there are only 2 out of 4 left what next? When Daltrey snuffs it does Townsend hire a new singer and keep going? And then when Pete meets his maker do the rest of the band hire a new guitarist and keep going? After all the Berlin Philharmonic keeps going despite changes in personnel or conductor so why shouldn't the Who?
Could the Who be playing "My Generation" at Glasonbury 2057 with members who weren't born when the original members died?
And if so, would it matter if the music sounds as good?
When does a band stop being itself and become a tribute band to its own past?

I saw the transmission of The Who at ... Live8? ( i think, year ago?) they were absolutely fantastic, to my surprise. The playing was as tight as Sandy's purse clasp. Really very good ....except the singing, which was a bit "stressed"
Bands will just fade away, Nath ... the real worry is the solo artistes. Will Elton John or Robbie Williams insist on wobbling their turkey necks at us, on the box, while they knock out a hit "you'll all remember" ? If they do (and they're not shot) then we will all become our Fathers and Mothers and the world will fold up into itself, all Dr.Who-like. Our houses will turn into gigantic wooden radiograms, where we cook around giant valves.
