I understand that bit Gargoyle. I just don't like the way I can't drag things about on a page and they want precise measurements - i like to do things in a pretty slapdash way. I will suss it out this winter....possibly! I don't know how it works in Photo$hop but in GIMP if you select a whole layer (select all) then you can move the layer about with the rectangular selection tool. If it wanted measurements all the time I wouldn't bother with it. I'm pretty slap-dash too!

Layers are great once you get used to them. They make life so much easier. If you say so, Gargs. I always struggle with seeing the bits I want to and seeing through the bits I don’t. I know you can make masks and things but it’s a lot to do (and learn about).

You can turn visibility off for selected layers so that you can see what you are doing.
And learning is 90% of the fun. Once you know what you're doing the rest is mainly just work.
