Hey I know, I've just been totally transfixed by it. Hence my late arrival, Miss. Yeah very compelling because the way of the world is that a load of monied and glamourous children don't garner very much sympathy which is typical of the reverse snobbery of Socialism. Every life is of equal importance whether its a girl from a sink estate or a bloke who works on the Stock Market floor.

I think you’re getting an obsession with socialism, Daz. I would imagine that there are as many Conservative-voting, “Daily Mail”-reading people who hold these attitudes as there are socialists (perhaps more, given that so many of the socialist elite are part of the meeja merry-go-round that is choc full of glamorous wastrels). I think these attitudes are more to do with Puritanism and the work ethic and general disapproval of anything that appears to be frivolous and unwholesome.

another tear jerker on Pick of the Week - a mother (name seems unimportant*) reading her witness impact statement. * but here it is anyway - Elizabeth Davidson Oh yes, I heard that on Today last week. Very affecting, indeed. Apparently, the Judge who read it said that it had moved him to tears. When this was announced, I was a bit sceptical and thought that this was hyperbole but it really was a very moving statement: the most affecting piece of radio I heard last week.
