Oddly enough I go for Paul McCartney over John Lennons version and the soulful Lousiana Red sounds as if he means it. A few of the rest just go through the motions - in more ways than one.

Boring answer but: Best version - Sam Cooke. Quite liked a few others, and I've always had a soft spot for Rod and The Faces. What a song though!!!!!

It turned out that one of the speakers wasn't working during Lennons version so it wasn't quite that bad - once I could hear some vocals

Ah yeah..the original is always somehow the best. I prefer his live version for some reason. To some surprise I quite like Sonny and Cher! <<blush >>
