I can say i think without contradiction that there is more kitsch in Blackpool than in the whole of Germany. Massage parlours, tattoo artists. games arcades as big as football fields, fish and chip shops on every corner. The thing is it is quite attractive. Something that i have spent my whole life trying to avoid I found entertaining. It seems that wherever one looked there was something either to laugh or wonder at. Even Madame Gypsy Lee the clairvoyant on the front who says " I will lift the vail (sic) on your desires" means well. Go before the illuminations end it really is good. We walked the whole 6.5 miles of illuminations but took a tram back. The trams btw are a delight to behold.

We went the other day in Blackpool to have a fish and chip supper at Harry Ramsdens. For those of you south of the midlands who are starved of culinary refinement this is a quite famous northern institution. The quality was quite good though not as good as the Magpie in Whitby. What made it a bit different was an old women sitting quite alone who at intervals would shout "vote conservative" she was of course not quite the ticket, not i hasten to add because of her faith in the Tories, although it might have sent her over the edge. It seems that if we had stayed until today we could have seen the Antiques Roadshow at the Tower which is being broadcast from the Tower Ballroom, where yesterday we watched something trhat i had thought had died out in the 1950's ... ballroom dancing. We also went to a very good circus which is present in the Tower and is included in the admission price. I saw a totally new aspect of my wife which was a childlike enthusiasm for the acts. She was clapping louder than the kids. ;D

Ballroom dancing is very popular in the UK. BBC had a long running show on prime time Saturday nights, with the media gossiping about it all the next day ;D

This kind of dancing has always been popular with people of more mature years who are getting worn out. It's just like my pants. The older they get the more ballroom there is.

Cojone sandy..... yeah ;D I think I mentioned the amount of kitsch to be had in Blackpool. I purchased two pair of underpants. One saying on the front. 'handle contents with care'. and the other saying 'caution contents may explode' Btw I see one famous haute couture fashion designer is to come up with underpants for left handers. I myself being right handed and when fishing it out have never given any thought that left handers could find this every day action problematic.

When asked what the string was for he replied that it was to extract his penis when using the lavatory. And the fork? For replacing it again when finished. Eric
