An Australian study published in prominent international medical journal The Lancet has found that liquor caused 27 per cent of deaths involving 15 to 29-year-olds in 2002.
The review of death figures in economically-developed nations also found that illicit drugs claimed four per cent of young lives.
So if we legalise these illicit drugs should we also expect a similar level of deaths from them in future?

Its slightly more complex.
If its legalised it is rid of impurities.
Having said that I'm the last person to advocate drug use, merely because of the vast drug consumption of people I know, or rather used to know..incl. one who is impossible to know as he is now dead.
I do recall him talking about problems and expression and wondering whether it was due to previous drug use. Now this is common I find. A lot of people go through bad times or depression and its a considerable help to know that is probably not due to a few experiments on my part (which I;d be better off doing without really). Whereas these previous heavy drug users - of soft and in some cases hard..if you count LSD, Ecstasy - may well now be totally clean and in perfect health. But I'm sure Piccione has come across this himself...theres a huge confusion about the precise effects of drugs which just does not exist with alcohol and cigs.
Therefore theres this slight confession that arises after the tongue is loosened by alcohol where the previous drug taker..says he feels strange..has flashbacks..is nervous...is depressed...and unlike you and me Sandy ..who can just put it down to normality of mood change..the drug abuser is secretly very worried that his drug use has irreparably damaged him in some way.
But then he would feel the same way whether the drugs imbibed were legal or illegal.
