An interesting article by Nicholas Campion where he discusses how the soul or psyche linked into classical philosophy on astronomy. The article sets out the ideas of Plato , Aristotle and the founder of Stoicism Zeno of Citium.

Nicholas Campion goes on to discuss how all these philosophical strands were likely to have been an influence on Claudius Ptolemy in his works. :
