a little bets attempted to use the record function on our dvd machine to save the Tony Blair thing the other night. neither of us had ever used it before and the dvd needed to be formatted. she clicked the 'yes' option, but it didn't work.
now she just wants to watch a dvd and the machine is unable to read the disc.
does anyone know what we can do to get it working again?
it's a Panasonic DMR-EZ47V
the recordable disc was a TDK DVD+R 1-16x speed 4.7gb.
we have already tried unplugging it for a bit.

Don't know Bets. Try:
1) Reformatting another disc. It may be stuck in that function for some reason. Retry until it finishes the job. If it can't, click Cancel.
2) If it still won't work, switch off, unplug, then go into the setup menu and start as though it was new. This should clear its cache.
3) Can it play other DVDs or just not the one you want to watch? I find the best way to clean them is to rub vigorously on your hair. This may not work, but it's fun sneaking up on you when you're asleep.

 no that just came up on my list of 'bets' guest post names....from when i removed myself from the Woman's Hours admin. we had a lot of work on yesterday and i didn't pay attention before posting. mr bets is going to have a go at re setting up the dvd today

Good luck to Mr.Bets. If he gets electrocuted, don't touch him. Hit him with a stick. A broom is good. If he's still getting electrocuted, hit him again, but harder. If that doesn't work, press cancel - and ask me for more advice.

mr bets was a huge disappointment. he seemed to think that fixing dvd player was my job along with everything else  so much for trying to make a chap feel that he's good at more than one thing ;D new dvd player has been ordered. |
