I remember staying overnight at Stresa once and visited the island of Isola Bella. What a beautiful place it was.

Welcome back Darinka. I'm glad you enjoyed the food, even if the course was boring.

Hi Darinka, did you go and see the big statue nearby Arona? Of a saint - Charles Borromeo(?) - he tried to get rid of corruption in the mediavel Catholic Church but also had some funny puritanical-type ideas, like segregating men and women to different sides of a church during a service. It was the largest statue in the World until the Statue of Liberty was built.
I like Lago Maggiore, though last time I spent time there was about 6-7 years ago, at Locarno (over the border). Mort Shuman wrote songs about Lago Maggiore when he moved to live in France. Earlier, in his home USA, he wrote lyrics for the Drifters.

Hi PJ, no i havent seen that statue. i had only a postcard with it. we had only one free afternoon so i went to Milano. but my colleague went to see it and it was closed. You can go inside the statue only on weekends during october and we had to leave on friday. but it is very big statue. the lake was amazing. during the day you can see a lot of fishermen there and even fishes in the lake.

I was hoping you'd have a chance to watch Inter or AC Milan, Italian supporters are very keen on flag waving and letting off fireworks.
