It's bound to cause trouble.... A New York gallery has angered a US Catholic group with its decision to exhibit a milk chocolate sculpture of Jesus Christ.
The six-foot (1.8m) sculpture, entitled "My Sweet Lord", depicts Jesus Christ naked on the cross. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/6509127.stm

It's a bit of an Artistic quandary .... it appears quite a nice piece - but Cavallaro can usually be a bit of a tooosser.
The Catholics should celebrate the thought though - it's a valid interp. of transubstantiation in EXACLTY the mode of the Catholic's interpretation.... but nicer to eat.

My main concern is that the thing will melt under the lights.....not so much an Ascension, more a Transfiguration requiring many alter boys with mops.

I'm sure they've taken that into consideration, Mel and kept the object at a suitably chilled atmosphere. No doubt they'll be sharing him out at Easter. Er..I'm sure Licktenstein would have appreciated his work. I've looked up the artist, Mel. He was originally going to sculpt it out of cheese but it has a much more crumbly texture to it. ..apparently he'd have to do it entirely Caerphilly.

‘….angered a Catholic group…’?
Tch – they probably /funded/ the chocolate sculpture of Jesus to con some vulnerable addicts into religion. Desperate times....
I won’t fall for it. I'll continue to get my supplies elsewhere....
