Unfortunately any football club in the vicinity of Scotland is in danger of suffering from the all too familiar Tartan ills of nearby influence, thus allowing enthusiasm and desire to take hold just when they are about to leap over the high fence of excellence. Liverpool - Culture Capital - has suffered a similar fate due to its dependency of glue-sniffing upon the Celtic airs of Wales and Ireland. Happily Manchester is totaly immune from such dire influences due to both its curmudgeonly insistence on the very best and its sneaky ability to hold onto - latest figures - 75 million pound footballers. When we finally sell it'll be 100 Million!
Now that is the ugly face of Capitalism!

Stoke 0 Newcastle 0
With such a brave draw, Allardyce's transfer price has increased to £8.63 (inc VAT) There's rumours that Mansfield Town might make him an offer (as groundsman) What a shower the 'Toon have turned into
Luton 1 Liverpool 1
For the uninformed...Luton have been in ( and are close again) receivership 3 times. Many of their players haven't been paid for 6 weeks.
I think the "proper" behaviour is to say that big teams sometimes trip up in the FA Cup because it's "full of surprises".
I suppose it's naughty to actually say : "The Premier has never been so far ahead of the rest of the leagues in the history of football. Liverpool should be smarter, fitter, and more talented on every single aspect of the game throughout the 90 minutes - To fail at this small test is to prove that the club is fundamentally adrift, the Manager should be asked to copy out his own P45, with a scratchy pencil and the players are a bunch of spoilt, lazy dumbases with no pride or ambition left in their hearts"
What a total SHOWER.

Yup.
No Gerard playing I see.
Without him they are pants.
Maybe they should not pay Liverpool players for 6 weeks and then they might learn that playing football is not just a hobby.

NOTE ! Kipper predictions Dec 16th : "Latest Premier League News... Spurs are interesting to watch ...Liverpool are not - Revelation ! Benitez will be sacked at the end of the season - Prediction ! Michael Owen's gambling will spiral - Interrogation ! "
I may be a little off here & there --- it could be Benitez is out before Easter Eggs are handed out.
SANDY PIT: "No Gerard playing I see. Without him they are pants. Maybe they should not pay Liverpool players for 6 weeks and then they might learn that playing football is not just a hobby."
Given the style of the game ( lower order team put lazy sods under constant pressure with no breathing space) Gerrard would have been even more of a clogger than he normally is. If you give him a 50 metre free zone and 5 minutes to get the ball under control, he can sometimes make a run. But - he would've been caught with 2 left feet on the ball a every turn ... he was wise to be out of it. Perhaps the players feel under pressure because they're part of the "City of Kulture Cum 'Ed Calm Down Our Pet" ?? I have no idea why - they all have great careers as street mime artists.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7179847.stmAllardyce reign ends at Newcastle Allardyce was in charge at St James' Park for 24 games Newcastle have ended Sam Allardyce's managerial reign after eight months. Ooo - what a surprise ! So, this was the same Allardyce that was one of the favourites for England manager at one time? Only the foolish (the FA and journalists) EVER thought so. Bolton were lucky to have got rid and trouser the contract cash. I note that Alan Shearer has decalred himself not available for the job ( this time !) which means he's smarter than he sounds... this is a dog of a job of the next 12 months (for somebody) ... maybe a call to Baldy ??

Harry Redknap "favourite" for Newcastle job to replce Allardyce
Blimey -- replace a fat, visionless Manager with no 'O' levels with a skinny dodgy villain with 1 'O' level.
I'd like to see the risk analysis/business plan/vision statement for that lark. Or can we just rely on the fact that "the lads will respect him in the dressing room, innit".... It'll be the latter, as usual.
Harry can look forward to: 1) Exit from the Portmouth villainy history 2) Exit from Portsmouth's limitations ( they have got as far as they can...it's all downhill from now) 3) Swift increase to the retirement fund
Newcastle can look forward to: 1) more of the same. But with a clogging, ankle-breaking defence organised. 2) Increased season ticket price

Why don't the Geordies get a manager from the continent as there are no good ones here?
There's always the language barrier of course, but I am sure the manager would learn to speak Geordie eventually. Howay.

Seems like 'Arry has turned dahn the Newcastle job .... which was signalled a bit, by his career being almost 99% dedicated to souther english clubs. I'm sure a Winter visit to Newcastle didn't sell the job in the best light either. Of course a 6-0 EMBARASSING DRUBBING at the weekend doesn't help sell the job either. ---- Seems Mark Hughes ( Blackburn) is in the frame now. This could be a goer .... but what a choice ! Stay managing Blackburn (zzzzzzz) or manage Newcastle Wot a Mess

It's KEV KEEGAN for Newcastle !!!
I think I like this appointment ...why ? Because it reminds me of an English Architectural "folley" . You know the sort of thing: a small Castle or Gatehouse that some loon knocked up in the grounds. No point to it, no plan to it ... mostly based on romantic notions, fantasy, spare cash.
There might be some small success ... IF ANY of the players were involved in the "glorious history" of Perm-Boy Keegan, Newcastle "grit" and all the rest of it. But they don't know what the buggering hell Kev and the papers are talking about.
It'll be a romantic, interesting experiment for about ... ooh...er... 5 matches. That's before it deteriorates into the simple aim of keeping above Middlesboro'.

Gerrard didn't do as bad as you thought in the replay with Luton. Although he did only score three goals. ;D

Yas .. 3 goals against ... who was it now ? Luton. What a performer ! Only time will help you realise that Gerrard has had his day ... the pace is waning ; what footballing brain is blunted and his shimmy-ing skills were never as high as some claimed. Like Liverpool ... he is aimless.
-------------
Kevin Keegan gets grand Draw ! Newcastle re-enliven themselvesfor...ooo...what was it ? 12 minutes?
Q: Who would buy Owen - and what would they pay ? Q2: Will Keegan make it to next season?

Let's see how many he scores against Villa tonite ...
my guess? 0
or 1, if you count the inevitable penalty against Villa, granted in front of the Anfield crowd.

The match was only on Setanta so didn't see any of it.
I don't see why everybody is blaming the owners. It is the manager and players who are failing.

You didn't need to see it to know that GERRARD DIDN'T SCORE !
In fact, Liverpool struggled ( at home) to pull off the 2-2 draw. With the short-stacked Villa mising their best man too.
Liverpool on the brink of nothing much ! Surely some fat-walleted gimp has sidled upto to Torres by now? He'd be glad to go...and escape the mediocre club he got hoodwinked into joining
