Sunday Bat TV
Was shown some minutes of "OKI" ( I think it was OKI or OKE...) TV. It's on one of the many many sayellite channels. OKI TV is from Nigeria and they have a facinating "soap" opera they transmit. If I say the tape editor is probably stoned, the sound recordist has fallen asleep and the actors ...are....er... in describable, you'd get the picture. Have a view - it's a hoot.

Bat TV - Whenever
Didn't see nuffink ... except to catch a little Footie. So pleasant to see Man U looking like overpaid lazy cloggers and Man C looking like efficient German hand dryers. Plus ca change.
Is it too early ( I never belive it to be so !) to re-state that Alex Ferguson is an overpaid, horse-gambling, bullshyter that's well well past his Sell By ? Or ...that his more concerned to get Alex Junior another Agent's fee rather than explian why his zillion quid team can't get their socks on the right foot?
------------
2 other media experiences:
A) By unfortunate accident, I saw a trailer for "X Factor" ( or whatever it's called) Where some cardboard cut-outs bleated triple-cliches at a member of the Pleb class. Now, I think I've seen a total of 8 minutes of this patronising garbage ... but even I know that the "formula" for this program is unchanged since 1932. Is this what in-o-vation looks like ? What Toss!
B) Heard 10 minutes of a Radio program ... it went to a classroom (primary, I think) in Sudan. The Teacher said: "Anyone know what this is?"
Lovely tiny voices, keenly squeeked their responses ...
"It looks like a pineapple, Sir"
Teacher: "Yes, it does, doesn't it ... but anyone remember what we said before...anyone?.... Yes, that's right - never pull the wire, never touch it - run away and tell a grown up"
He was talking about Land Mines and the whole class of beautiful children were willingly talking it through, and learning what they had to learn.
I felt sort of ashamed.

Bat TV - Several Months
These reviews are getting very poor now... there is a Telly in the BatCave, but it's getty very dusty.... I even missed the England-Israel game, where England actually scored some goals, and stuff ! What a pity - I always look forward to having a good long laugh at McClaren's viewpoint/guff after the game.
Sunday Bat TV C4 Saw 50 minutes of "Lord of the Rungs" a documentary on Window Cleaners before the war. Lord of the Rings. Obviously a beautifully made fim. But I noticed:
a) There are dozens of shots consisiting of 1/3 shoulder and 2/3 Hobbitt in a frame. This to show how short the Hobbitts are. Was there a "Shoulder Stand-In" ? What's the union rate for that?
b) The film's ( all of them?) over-all colouration. It's very clever ( if intentional) as the toned down colour/saturation and somewhat neutral sun position set an unusual other-worldliness. Does anyone know if Jackson deliberately shot for that ?
(and does anyone read this thread anyway?)

No theres a programme called Tribe which is utterly fantastic. Also the Documentary of Frankie Howerd - my verdict? The man was a genius! My main worry is that the BBC want cutbacks and have pinpointed BBC 3 and BBC 4... ask the Crumblies...we ALL hate BBC3 BUT adore BBC4...so what will they do? er..get rid of BBC4.

Sandy Grade: "I read it Kip."
Well, fank ewe vair much --- I shall continue to dribble on, therefore.
Dazz on 4: "No theres a programme called Tribe which is utterly fantastic. Also the Documentary of Frankie Howerd - my verdict?"
Yes - I did make a mental note of Tribe ... I've seen the guy before jumping up & down with some Masai. He's very engaging and ...er... honest sorta bloke. Sadly I missed all of Tribe - unless it's still on, of course.
Bat Radio - Tuesday
Heard the remainder of some sort of play about the MArx Brothers. Only heard 10 mins ... but best line:
The Brothers arrive into a Moscow winter: Grouch : "Wow it's freezing ...really cold. If I had known it was gonna be this cold I would've grown a beard .... and then set it on fire"
;D

Bat TV BBC - Friday
Actually saw a lot of "Jonathan Ross Show". ...almost , like 30 mins or summat.
Guests: "The Ugliest Man In The World" aka Quentin Tarantino, talked about his new film (why else would anyone turn up on this show?) and we heard it had driving stunts in it , that were "really kewl"
Two women that are fashion experts. They spoke swiftly about what they did and about their breasts.
The Super-cool black guy .... Pulp Fiction... can't think of his name. He was entertaining.
Ross talked about his: kock, beard, films he liked, weight etc etc etc. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to be stuck in a small Bar with a Double-Glazing rep , who'd "had a really good quarter" and was looking for a "good time" then just watch Ross rabbitt on about his views. A good suit and a smart mouth still doesn't hide the fact that this man is a media paper-bag. What a thosser.
Didn't see nuffink else ... 'cept the weather report. It said it was getting colder and there'd be rain in Scotland - only 20 MainFrame computers can apparently bring you these revelations. Does the Met Office's computers contribute, significantly, to global warming ?? Surely this is the same as testing the swimming pool water , while you're having a pi** in it?

No it's not the same.
It's more like a King of old getting somebody to test his food before eating it in case it is poisoned.
So he get's less to eat.
Or like a scientist not bothering to test vaccines on animals because it is a waste of a good vaccine.
Maybe on second thoughts it's not much like them either. ;D
But man-made global warming is like flying from Australia to England then walking the other 20 miles home because the distance is felt to be insignificant.

Bat TV
Didn't see nuffink - Oh, except some footy highlights ( 20 mins)
I have 2 tellys in da house ... and both of them aren't even on standby ( energy conservation AND lack of use) I wonder if the heads of BBC/ITV realise how little TV means to anyone anymore?
What's their plan to incolcate (spel?) youngsters into a lifetime diet of cartoon idiot soaps and dogpoo game shows? They've lost the battle ... and have no idea how to win. I hear the endless bleat of 'streamed material' etc. There's a couple of things there:
1) I have no interest in watching, even good programs, from +5 years ago. Superb nature program ? Well, I can see some whales again sometime. Eastenders from 1991 ? Er.... no thanks. Re-runs of great 80s films they got cheap ? Well ... I'll live , if I never see them. Big libraries of media footage are grossly inferior to big libraries of dead trees : dusty old books. TV libraries are not a go-er
2) Delayed Viewing: I miss THAT film/documentary I really wanted to see .... 24 hours later, I still maybe want to see it. 2 days later ... no time, fading need. 3 days later ... well, never mind, it's not that important. 4 days later ... what? oh yeah ...er... nah.
3) THEE HYPERLINK. The internet has THEE Hyperlink. Forget nicely designed sites, daft "social" sites and news gobbets. The secret of the 'net is still Thee Hyperlink. How many times have you jumped from a mathematical/scientifc page on Wikipedia...and dissapeared down a rabbit hole of learning and information? And what's the "commitment" ... zeo ! you can catch up later if you're distracted by summat like work or tea.
4) People that "run" TV There was always a majority of tossers in TV land ... but now the thick have moved in to support the tossers. Leaving talent rolling its thumbs in the car park. Michael Grade has been head of C4, BBC and now ITV .... why exactly is that ? Because he's an inspiring and brilliant communications and creative visionary ? Rupert Murdoch owns the "other" part of broadcasting. Is Rupert an inspiring and brilliant communications and creative visionary?
Bums on seats - if you haven't got them, then nothing matters.

On the Chavvy TV:
There was Grease - A hard-hitting documentary bout life inside Merican Highschools. I didn't manage to follow it to the end. I was distracted by a spider on the wall. Happens a lot.
There was also White Heat - from the old days and acksherlly I had never seen it before and I lurved it. Old days were great, you got to run around shooting people and hiding in trucks.
And there was a programme about Roald Dahl and how he was a grumpy old man because he didn't get a knight hood. He should have got one! Think of all the wasters who have one... Sir David Beckhams and Lady Posheroonies....Lady Wayneroonie. Hmmm. Sounds gud. No I think Becks deserves a knighthood. I relly do. Roald did nothing but write books. The films were not even by him!

Lady Rio Ferdinand sounds awright.
Roald Dahl - well , he was quite an interesting writer ... but personally, I never understood why someone was called Roald, is it short for Ronald ? or Rolf? It's a daft affectation is what it is.
oh ...and explain Raif as well.
Chave scribes the best reviews. I'm a little bit in love, tell t'truth.

I was watching the Factory Records Fiasco.
A bit of a hackneyed story, all old hat..Tony Wilson, slightly mad/crap businessman/opportunistic.
Barney and the guys trying to keep from crying as they think of all the money lost..surely someone made money somewhere.
In reality they were too drugged up and living high on the hog to care much about the money..as Sumner pithily said 'they were living in a Shang-ri-la which vanished as soon as it met the light of cold reality...i.e. the wallet.
Musicwise..a bit patchy.

I saw the C4 Dispatches program about how our politicians are screwing the public (left, right and centre). No wonder people don't bother to vote these days. It's one law for them and another for the rest of us. Whether it is through accommodation allowances, expenses or pensions they are up to their necks in sleaze. It's so bad it's almost as bad as the EU. www.channel4.com/news/articles/dispatches/nice+work+if+you+can+get+it/839262But it is the public sector so we shouldn't be all that surprised.

<<< 1.1 million Conservative activists have left the Party since 1979,The Labour Party no longer pretends to be a mass party (latest estimate 150 000), the Lib Dems well what can you say. All of them rely on big cheque donors, to buy influence and this has meant that none of them have the need to listen to anybody anymore, other than their donors and pressure groups. Their answer to this is that we the taxpayer should be compelled to keep them in clover. The Labour Party has already decided that we the taxpayer should pay for the legal bills of those cautioned under the Cash for Peerages scandal.
The time for small Government has started to gain a groundswell, hopefully this will receive a boost this week, as the Labour conference will lay down more plans for our money and start laying down more intrusive plans to run our lives. >>>

Well no surprise there then although its throughout society - who benefits from Northern Rock as the poor people who innocently banked money there are told the Cupboard is now bare.
But hang on...didn't the Directors of Northern Rock quickly sell their shares only to buy them back again when they reached rock bottom. That stinks to high heaven, Sandy.
Its not just Europe - its everywhere!
