Set Thee Controls for thee Heart of thee Bleedin' Sun!Yes Nurse, it was: SYD BARRET ! ! Dazza knew all along - he was toying with us. Indeed Syd it were. Dunno if he was fully nuts when he painted this, or just half nuts - but it was a nice piece. Syd, founder of Pink Floyd and general psychadelic hipster went off on one ...leaving the band to make fame and cash and all that, while he langushed in a mental institution. I think he died relatively recently (2000?) but I do not know if he continued to paint. Shame A new Guitar and Laser show for Daz Some dodgy mushrooms for the rest of yews

Syd Barret! I should have thought of him. He died in 2006, having lived for years in the next road to us, but we didn't know who he was until after his death. His house (a very ordinary semi) was full of his paintings and other memorabilia which are being auctioned off to fans. The paintings I saw weren't a patch on the one of the lions, though.

Syd did some others ... I will post them up. But this Lions number was, really, a piece of Art:
"It makes you think something different"

Dam/n...I'm late again....
But we already had Syd! Since you're coming up with 'repeat offenders', Kip, can I just ask that you leave out further crimes committed by the bloke who directed Lord of the Rings. That pic of the two dogs was gastly!! I'm still having nightmares about it!

Just one more from Syd ( he didn't do too many of note) before we get the old Kock machine running again. This shows he had the inklings of talent, or better .... sympatico wiv thee Art, innit. This one was called Human Figure -- and it has the start of something:

OK ... a small respite there... Now, back on wiv the immature schlock. This person is a Band member-leader ...(of many bands) you will know thee Bands rather than the person ... but you kinda know the person really. A traditional "front man". Still alive ( I think) and we're saying he's "effnik" innit. James Brown he wasn't.... Here's a some samples. One of them ( the graphic job) is supposed to represent the musical experience. Shame that it's never got beyond what a 80s teenager does when he's designing his imaginary album cover. Like a magazine cover from a 3rd rate layout artist with scribbler's block. The other "piece" is basic sexualised doodling. At least a cock and balls scrawled on thee wall has some immediacy, agression and shorthand to it. Do not let this man design your restaurant interior !

The clues made me think of Herb Alpert (Tijuana Brass) but the paintings are not as accomplished as those of his I've seen. Perhaps they're doodles?

Not Herb alpert, Tops ... although Herb is appropriate ! Probably spans the same era ... and then more ( not sure - I will look it up ) ... yeah - looked it up. I think he would've been Herby time and hs carried on right through to today.

TOPS: "George Clinton? He's been going a long time!"SODDING BLIMEY ! I'm gonna have to do these challenges in some sort of Eastern dialect! George Clinton it was !!! The Funkmeister (so he says... James Brown, I think, leaves him in his dust... not that I know much about Funkadelic etc) likes a daub, now and again. And, this is about as good as he gets. Might adorn an LA Effnik Bistro ... but otherwise, he should stick to Da Funk, imho. A Geat Big Funk to Tops ...with added "Uh" and an extra topping of Funk A bass guitar with 3 missing strings for the others

Hokey Dokey ... we're in very strange territory now . This young (was at one time) Arteeste is nearly exclusively a 2D dauber. He is, I suppose a musician/poet-type... who would self-describe himself as an iconoclast - but, for most of the time has been an arse-pain/laugh/disrupter. I like the fact that he retains a "tone" in all his work ..certaily pensive, but a tendency to fear anything deeper and clasically "meaningful". The stuff isn't so bad ... but, well, it's never going to stick, is it? You all kinda know this character ... who is it ?
