Oh there are lots more dead people than Kurt Cobain...who couldnt even worte a song never mind paint! Although I may get my nose in the mouse trap for that. It can't be Ian Curtis because he was in the Civil Service at the same time as me - and the same length - about 3 months. It looks english...oh dear me..how did he die? Lets make this into 20 questions

mimiI know you've busted a few quid on some Windsor & Newton in the past .... how about a suggestion ? (which I expect I will get) Sorry, I've lost the thread of this thread. Are we supposed to guess who painted one of the daubs? I don't know, but it wasn't me.

Piccalilli : "Oh I know....Kurt Cobain
Well done !! within the same decade ( I think...) But a wrong answer - Nirvana was just out of reach there
DJ Dazza : "It can't be Ian Curtis because he was in the Civil Service at the same time as me - and the same length - about 3 months."
Please don't tell me what Division he worked in. Anyway - wrong. Guessing will tear you apart, I know.
It looks english...oh dear me..how did he die?
Well, I suppose we can say English, yes. How did he die? Erm.... I don't know, in medical exactnes. It wasn't some tragic accident, though. Illness.
Lets make this into 20 questions
Desperate Dazz - 3 cow pies and he's still hungry
mimi It is good to see you have pushed back the blanket from your knees, taken a sip of tea, and joined us in the land of the barely living. I have to dissapoint, and say, NO, this was not your work. Mimi - catch the next Art Teaser from the start... then you won't get confused. May I suggest less cheese before you go to bed? My Mum always used to say it will give you nightmares.
--------------------------------- Well --- I think it's about time for one late-night, ovaltine-ey, plumped pillow and kiss on the forehead cluette: (from the previous hints) Pay attention:
may not be amused by it.

What??
And what do you mean - ’I think’! That just ain’t good enough, croupier!
(Sorry, Sands, I let you down. I thought your ‘drug habit’ tip was the last clue I needed. Actually, no, YOU let ME down there! Any better more tips....?)

Right!!
After a sleepless night, tossing and turning, frantically trying to think of a British artist (....‘pretty’ famous, I guess?), who died of an illness.....and given his limited solo success, obsession with detail etc etc, how about....
Freddie Mercury
Now he definitely went to art school!

ARMITAGE SHANKS (great name !) "Too drab and mundane for Freddie. I like his work though..shows a bit more flair."
See where you're coming from, Arm. But that drab and mundane piece of scribbling was indeed...
POP, BANG, WHOOSH ( that's text fireworks, in case you're wondering)
Freddy "the outfits were great - the music was shiite" Mercury
Well done Piccandmixey ... you got there in the end !!!!!!
A postal order for £0.85 is on it's way to you in the post ... but might be delayed. You also get a 25% discount voucher to spend at 'Videos R Us" on a genuine VHS (used) copy of the Bohemien Rhapsody video ...which very few people have seen. ---------------- Yes, looking at the "artwork" we see few clues to the true identity. The pencil work has the same dynamism when dealing with a pot plant, a door or a person. Flat as a pancake. Tonal changes have no place here in graphite smudge city. Great care has been made to get the foreshortening right on some skirting board, but the central subject might well have been a cushion, or a dog...not the Artist's sister ( which it was) There's no glam and no bombast in this drawing .. so it was a tough old test of your guessterological skills.
More "Rock around the load of old quock" to come ...
although the search for deep dross is getting tougher

Yeeeaaaahhhhesssssssssss!!!
“We are the Champions…” (…ok - Sands too…for now!)
It was inevitable that I’d get it in the end - with Freddie Mercury being a fellow gay fashion designer. ;D Although I don’t think he specialised in bridal dresses....
And yeah, the music was cr@p, for sure!

Bring it on, Mr Croupier!

Here's a little art. I think trubble pinched his avatar on JSG. Another one of those whose fame went to their heads big time. What has he ever achieved anyway, apart from playing the Diva? Paul Simon wrote the songs.

WE'RE OFF !!Right Ho, I hope your mental brushes have been thoroughly washed in turps, and your glass is re-filled with absynthe. Today's new challenge : What do we have 'ere then ? Well, it's a mixture of styles - either deliberate or because the the "artist" is plain lazy and/or incompetent. Falling between several stools (usually a favourite trick of Oliver Reed) of cartoon , mock Picasso (blue and cubist periods) & Philip Guston they make a good job of coming up with bad Art soup. The ears are a nice example of acting up, as modern artiste, ... but not getting the basic point that you cannot simply slap styles on a canvas, depending what mood you're in that hour. The nose is just a frustrated smudge to try and get away with the fact there was no idea behind any of it, really. The colours are jolly, though - nice to see the person didn't think they had to paint every bit of canvas, just 'cos they'd bought the pots/had some left on the brush. This dauber is a songwriter and performer. Many folks like to take the songs and do a cover version. The person is still alive. ----------------------- GUESSES WELCOME AND ENCOURAGEDaway you go....
