Dunkirk?
Yes we retreat, calmly pre-possess our thoughts and then wait till thee Americans arrive to save our skin. As for the Irish..well they're saved because they didn't fight in the War anyway, apart from to send Lord Haw-Haw over there to help out.
As for the French. No comment.

I think if I had to choose just one word to describe the Ukranians I would choose the word fatalists. But I expect if you have lived all your life under Soviet communism one would tend to be a fatalist. The electricity goes off at regular intervals the water supply goes off but it seems they are so used to it that they just wait for it to come back on again and carry as usual. For whatever reasons the gas supply never seems to go off. Yesterday evening we came back after visiting friends in something called a Dacha only to find that the lights had failed, my girl friend just lit some candles and never even mentioned it. I would have cursed the government, the electricity supplier, pulled my hair out and kicked the cat if it happened in England, but no one seems to let things worry them here. Is that becos they is drunk, Gus?

Fatalists? It's also known as the Dunkirk Spirit. I'm a tad irritated by not being allowed to participate in the 'Whose This Very Old Person who Died in 1953' thread. So far I've got every one spot on - seriously - and I'm stuck on Arenas 'Sugar Mama'. Is it Frances De la Tour?

I know that other people may think differently but I find it very strange that the British can get a good arse kicking from an opponent and then go home and boast about how brilliantly they got their arses kicked..... gus

Is that becos they is drunk, Gus? Probably, there is an awful lot of drunkeness here it is part of the Russian (ukrainian) macho man culture. Fortunately I do not drink and I do not mix with this type of company. What I do find very satisfactory here is that the Ukrainians love to talk, I can honestly say that it has been the best time i have spent for a long long time and I will really be sad to go back to England tomorrow. Rest assured as the american general ( Mac Arthur ??) said "I will be back" or was that Arnie Schwartzenegger ;D gus

I think you are getting a trifle confused here daz, it was not the Americans that saved our skins it was the the Soviets. You can bet your boots that if the Soviets had not fought so bravely and sacrificed so much, America would now be skulking in it's own back yard and muttering threats and the British national anthem would be Deutschland Ueber Alles. But I get the feeling that the louts on JSG would have clapped loudly if it had happened this way. gus

Where did this myth that JSG is an anti-American board come from?
Thinking Bush is a complete plonker does NOT = hating America! It merely indicates a dislike of election cheats and crass stupidity and warmongering.

I too hate Bush and his repulsive Republican party, and although the American people are on the whole decent. I very much doubt that i would want to live there. As a matter of fact if I had the choice of living in Kyev or Washington. I would be heading east not west. I was refering to the Nazi's and their sympathisers on the JSG board when I said they would have clapped if the Third Reich had won the day. gus

You've got a bloody cheek ;D No, Gus, its you that is even more confused than you normally are. The Russians saved the War and the US Army saved us, at a considerable price, but nevertheless they came in at a time when we couldn't have foreseen thast the Russian Army took the heat off us. There's no real reason for the Russians to save our skins whereas there are historic ties that bind us to the Americans. Now go back and read some history books and be a good boy before I throw you back onto the JSG Nazi board!

I've never laughed so much since reading Excos posts about Labours valiant driving down of the Crime figures. Believe me that guy is the funniest bloke on ANY forum, with Arena closely following behind in his wake. The trouble with Arena is that when he tries to be funny its very serious and when he tries to be serious its soddin hilarious. Really though, Lucan is someone well worth keeping an eye on. He is the BNP member par excellence. He can't keep his mouth shut for 5 minutes about his War effort..which seems to be more the Territorial Army than real army but I'm sure he'll put me right and just to fit the bill, apart from his willingness to go to War with everyone and anyone he is a Labour supporter and an Old Labour supporter as well. He is one of you and Exco, Gus! And guess where all the racist recruits to the BNP Nazis come from, Gus - yeah the left wing! Now put that in your Pipe and smoke it!

The Germans were better equipped and outnumbered us so of course they win. The Americans come in with better equipment and more numbers and of course they win. It may have been different with bows and arrows and Agincourt but when it comes to fighting the biggest and strongest Army usually wins. Its not rocket science is it?

Yes Daz, Britain had too many bolshi appeasers who wanted us NOT to have any army or deterrent against the Germans. The same kind of idiots who are around today and don't want us to have an army or any deterrent. Maybe even people like GUS. And I don't suppose it occurred to Gus that but for Britain and the Americans, Russia would have been overrun by Germans as well.
